When Robbie and I were 21ish we went along to a motorbike clubnight where the speakers were Des and Steph Molloy, who had just returned from a trip in South America (on Penelope , a 1950's Panther). These intrepid explorers rode all over South America, experiencing everything from near death from dehydration to an encounter with local bandits! I was enthralled with their bravery (or madness, depending on how you looked at it). They became very dear friends of ours, and we have since had many motorbiking adventures in New Zealand with them. I hope that this painting of the three of them in the mountains of Peru tells some of their story. I know that every time I look at it I'll be reminded of our good mates, and how some people just get out there and create the stories that the rest of us enjoy!
