I woke with this one in my head yesterday - from a photo I took a couple of years ago on Molesworth Station...

This morning I wandered into my studio, feeling particularly grotty as I wrestled with my "once a year cold". I sat down with a cup of tea and tried to decide what would distract me from throbbing sinuses. A few weeks ago my son built me a big shelving unit so that I could safely store both paintings and canvases - which I soon filled up with carefully wrapped paintings. Here's the catch - I managed to avoid unwrapping them and having to make the choice of whether they were worth keeping. Most of the painters I know have a stockpile of these - painted, framed, hung, not bought, wrapped up...and forgotten about. So today I faced them. Some , I admit , made me cringe as I met them again. I guess at least it shows that I am making progress as an artist! Those have been ceremoniously destroyed. Others I was pleased to see, Like this one of Wellington. I still feel it's a good painting - but the right person hasn't met it yet. So, Mr (or Ms or Mrs) Right - if you're reading this and can't live without this painting ,please get in touch with me .... I'm holding it for you. |
