Here's something new from me. It's often fun to let your materials dictate subject- eg. watercolour paint is great for portraying water. I've painted birds using an old feather , trees with twigs.
I was looking at some offcuts of plywood ( My Man  is a builder) recently , and decided that the grain of the wood was a perfect background for ... trees.
The trunks more or less painted themselves as the acrylic pigment settled into the grain of the panel, and I like the contrast of the cool foliage against the warmth of the pine. I kind of like the ideaI of the painting referring back to the original tree which it's made from.
