"Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that. ... Being deeply loved by someone gives you strength, while loving someone deeply gives you courage."
Martin Luther King
The tragedy of last Friday is hanging over everyone , and it's tempting to give in to the fear and horror that an act like that invokes.
This weekend our home was unusually busy ,with around 16 visitors calling in, some of them several times. People arrived with boxes of garden produce to share, the neighbours spent time making mulch and dropping it over for my garden. Our 5 month old granddaughter ,Eva, was well played with , tickled and cuddled. Many cups of tea and glasses of wine were drunk and people stayed to share impromptu meals . We realised that at times like this people need people more than ever, to be reassured of love and friendship is the best way to deal with something that horrible. It's essential to remember that most humans are good . No matter how far you live from Christchurch , New Zealand is still a small place and this has affected everyone. Please take the time to think if there is anyone you know who just needs a chat or to share your extra zucchinis with :)
