I’ve always had a thing about old china and glass, not so much collecting Royal Albert as enjoying pieces which hold special memories for me.I love teapots and have a tea tree in my garden where a few favourites hang out. Birds hang out there too, so the two subjects go together in my mind.
Some cups remind me of family and special times, crazy tea cosies make me think about morning tea at the Baineham store, jars of Sally’s marmalade glinting in the sun remind me of my late sister’s prolific grapefruit trees.
Whether it’s wedding present coffee cups or just the neighbours recycling bin full of glass bottles glinting with frost , domestic bits and pieces are a favourite subject...not forgetting sewing machines and their assorted crafty surroundings,
Each of these paintings holds a special memory for me of family and friends - hopefully you’ll take a fresh look at your own domestic bliss memories :)
