When our son, Ant, was little he was attached to a blue blanket.Very attached. So attached, that one day I looked out the wIndow and saw him sitting patiently under the clothesline reaching up to blanky who'd just been washed.Eventually blanky fell apart and Ant was able to live without him. My old watercolour palette is a little like that... I've had this one since the first day I painted with watercolour, about 23 years ago! Recently bits have started falling off it and finally the whole corner fell off a few days ago. I've tried repairing and ignoring but it's no use, I had to find a replacement, which wasn't easy. But eventually one turned up in the local art suppliers in Nelson ( thanks, Impressions !). So out with the old and in with this shiny white newby. It feels pretty intimidating to start again with a blank palette, but at least it's the same size and set out, so my brush should still automatically reach for the right hole :) Other news... Finally workshops are possible again, and I'm looking forward to beginning teaching. Saturday 2nd/Sunday 3rd July : 2 places available At Korimako Studio, St.Arnaud. Two days beginner/intermediate watercolour and Gisborne Thursday/Friday July 28th/29th 2 days beginner/intermediate watercolour, still a couple of spaces free.
